Wilburn 2 LTD Vipers 5

Wilburn played top of the table Vipers this week and for the first half the blues played them off the park from Charlie at left mid to JD and Jimmie on the right the midfield bossed the game. Brad was superb as the sweeper (more of this Brad) and when called on the defence wiped up anything that came their way. Robert on one side and the ever improving Chriso stood out and Josh dealt with ease any ball that did get through. Wilburn attacked almost non-stop and went ahead when Chris flicked the ball over a defenders head and Tommy hit the ball on the bounce past the Vipers Keeper. Although we had put on all the pressure we could not get another until Josh took the ball around a defender outside his box and cleared the ball which went to JD who hit the ball first time to Jimmie and the Keeper could only watch as his volley sailed over his head into the top of the net. Tony changed the team for the second half and all 4 subs started. This unbalanced the blues who fell under great pressure and within 5 minutes they found themselves 3-2 down. No-one who watched the first 30 minutes could believe what had happened, but it got worse as Wilburn were kept in their half by a newly confident Vipers and a fourth goal followed. Tony then rearranged the team bringing JD, Chris and Jimmie back on. We threatened to get back into the game but as we pushed forward the defence were caught out and Vipers added a fifth.

Definitely a game of two halves.
