Wilburn Wanderers 0 Thames Gateway 3

First Half

A home match against our old friends Thames Gateway was always going to be a difficult match. Having won against Thames Gateway in the final of the Thurrock Tigers tournament in the summer, the wanderers knew what to expect from this team. From the start Thames put Wilburn under a lot of pressure and this eventually resulted in a corner. Despite the best efforts from the defense, the ball was stuck firmly in the back of the net. With in minutes of the re-start, Thames were on the attack again. A free kick was awarded just outside the penalty area. The result was a second goal.

Second Half

Knowing how good we are in attack, we were quietly confident of scoring in the second half, but again we had to defend in numbers to prevent our goal being breached. The pressure was enough to force a mistake, which resulted in a Penalty.

To sum up, a performance which the score reflected, the defense have had better days and the midfield lacked defensive qualities in the first half.
